Why should anyone pay special attention to your general, vague and insipid message that was put together by a pimple-faced 20 year old who doesn’t understand the first thing about persuading YOUR customer to open his wallet?
David Ogilvy, a master of the advertising trade, had this to say many decades ago: “In the modern world of business, it is useless to be a creative, original thinker unless you can also sell what you create.”
Sadly, many advertising and marketing “gurus” have moved so far away from this axiom that any sensible marketer trying to stick to tried and tested methods that SELL products is labelled “boring”, “old school” and “dated”.

But don’t for a second think that these “boring”, “old school” and “dated” marketers are shedding tears because of the dreadful titles they’ve been branded with.
No no no, Mr Business Owner, you’re mistaken if you think that these men and women of the Tried and Tested Old School of Marketing are sitting in a corner pitying themselves for these labels that have been bestowed upon them so unfairly.
If they had the time to sit and ponder, perhaps they might feel a pang of distress at the laughter of others.
But they’re too busy making money for those business owners who are CONCERNED WITH MAKING THE SALE, Mr Business Owner.
They’re occupied with creating content that compels readers to open their wallets and part with their money!

Set your sails and keep the course, Captain. Let not your whims and fancies determine your destination. Let not every star decide your fate. But trust the tried and tested methods that have for centuries convinced people to part with their money.
